How To Replace Hyundai Door Panels

Replacing your Hyundai's door panels is a great DIY project, and it's much easier than you might think! There are five parts to each door panel: the speaker housing, the window crank, the window control panel, the handle and lock set, and finally, the armrest. The most difficult part of replacing these is removing them from their existing clips. Once they're off, it's just a matter of connecting some new clips in place while reconnecting all of those other pieces.

Depending on how you go about replacing Hyundai Door Panels, it could be quick and easy or more difficult than necessary. We'll show you how to do it, so don't worry!

Getting Started

Before you start, be sure to check your car's manual and make sure you have the right tools. Be sure to get a good look at your door panel before starting: if any plastic clips hold it in place, remove them first so you can easily pull out the panels when they come loose.

Tools needed:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver

Removing the speaker housing

The first step is to remove the speaker housing. Next, remove the speaker. Then, remove the speaker grille. Finally, disconnect and remove the speaker harness from its mounting bracket on your Hyundai Elantra door panel by loosening two bolts on top of it and pulling it off with a pair of pliers.

Removing The Door Handle

Remove the door handle cover by prying it off with a small flathead screwdriver. The cover should come off quickly, but you may need to break out some tools and apply a bit more force if it doesn't.

Remove the screws holding the door handle in place using your ratchet set or hex key. You may need to loosen any other screws around or behind them as well (like those holding on the interior trim). If there are additional wires connected to these connectors, be sure not to damage them while removing them from their mounts.

Removing The Window Crank

Next, lift the cover of the window crank and pull it straight out. Next, disconnect the rod from its housing by removing its nut. If you have trouble getting your fingers around it, try lubricating them with oil or WD-40 to make them slide easier through their sockets. Remove this piece by sliding off its rod and then screwing it back into place once reassembled.

Replacing The Door Panel Clips

Remove the door panel clips by carefully prying them up with a small flathead screwdriver (or an awl, if you have one). It's OK if you break some of the clips; make sure there aren't any sharp edges left behind.

Next is checking your door panel for damage before starting the installation process. If you find any damage, take this opportunity to order new ones from Empire Hyundai of Jamaica before installing them into your vehicle!

Reinstall the door panel by lining up its mounting holes over those on your car and gently pushing it into place. If you're having trouble getting it to fit, check for any obstructions under or around the door frame (like wires or cables).

Conclusion

By following the steps outlined above, you can replace Hyundai door panels. It's a good idea to start by taking photos of the panels before removing them so that you can mark their locations on the new ones. This will make installing them easier, especially if there are any differences between your old and new panels.
