How To Change A Hyundai Car Battery

Changing a Hyundai car battery is easy. You have to be careful when dealing with the acid in the battery, and you'll want to make sure you know where everything is before taking it out. Otherwise, it's pretty easy!

Open The Hood

To change your car battery, you should start by ensuring you have all the necessary tools. You should have a small flathead screwdriver, pliers, and gloves in case you come into contact with any sharp edges or hot surfaces.

Next, locate your hood release lever and pull it gently until your hood pops open slightly (you should be able to wiggle it open). Now prop up the hood using something heavy enough that it won't move when released. Once this is done, make sure the area around your battery is safe from water and other liquids before proceeding further with disconnecting wires or removing anything else from under your hood.

Locate The Battery Connector

You will find the battery connectors located under the hood of your vehicle. Use a flashlight to help you locate them, if necessary. The connectors are usually black with red and white wires attached to them, but this may vary depending on your specific model of Hyundai car and year of production.

Unplug The Positive And Negative Battery Terminals With A Ratchet Wrench

Remove the battery connectors from their sockets and place them aside in a safe location where they won't become dirty or damaged during the installation of your new battery pack (keep reading for more information about safely storing these parts). To remove the connector from its socket, turn it counterclockwise until it falls out of place; don't use force as it could damage connections inside that lead to other parts like lights or computers inside your car's engine compartment!

Once you've removed both terminals from their clamps and disconnected them from their respective wires, you can slide a ratchet wrench (or sometimes just an ordinary ratchet) between one end of the battery and its bracket and use that as leverage to lift it out of its compartment in your car.

The exact steps for removing a Hyundai car's battery vary depending on which model you drive: some have plastic covers around the top of their batteries; others don't. But regardless of how much work it takes, once that sucker is out, install your new one by reversing these steps!

Clean any corrosive material off your engine's top before installing a new battery. This will help avoid getting battery acid on your skin and clothes during installation, which could damage them or cause irritation. If you get some acid on yourself, wash it off with water and soap as soon as possible, then dry yourself thoroughly before continuing with the installation.

Insert A New Battery, Following The Polarity Guides At Each End Of Each Battery Cell.

Once you've removed your defective battery, it's time to install a new one. Make sure the new battery is fully charged and clean before proceeding. Also, check that the terminals are free of corrosion, which can prevent the proper connection between them and your car's electrical system.

The positive terminal will be marked with a plus sign (+). The negative terminal will be labeled with either an N or a minus sign (-). If there is no marking on either end of your replacement car battery, connect its positive side first, then its negative side last. The orientation of these two terminals does not change; they are always placed in opposite directions from each other when installed correctly.

Once you have confirmed that both ends of your replacement car battery have been properly connected (and grounded), push down firmly until the entire assembly is seated securely within its tray or holder.

Use Safety Precautions

Lastly, try not to let any part of your car's frame come into contact with either one of these cables while they're being attached or removed; doing so may cause damage to your vehicle's electrical system if it gets too close!
