How To Adjust Hyundai Steering Wheel

If you do not adjust the steering wheel of your Hyundai appropriately, it may cause problems with your posture and, more importantly, it may impair your ability to drive in a safe manner. This guide will walk you through the process of installing a steering wheel in your vehicle. Contact us if you have any questions!

How To Properly Install Your Car's Steering Wheel

There is only one knob to turn in order to alter the steering wheel's position. If you look directly below the steering wheel, you'll see a little lever resting flat against the column. This will allow you to alter the depth and height of your Hyundai steering wheel.

Get Comfortable

  • In order to focus on adjusting your steering wheel, you must first make the appropriate adjustments to your seat. Your comfort and safety may be compromised if the pedals and steering wheel aren't properly adjusted to your height and body type.
  • To improve your visibility on the road, use the lever or button on the side of your seat to raise or lower it. There will be a dial or button on the side that allows you to adjust the recline of the chair.
  • Complete the process by adjusting the automobile seat's position using the bar or lever located under the seat. You'll need to have sufficient leg and foot room to operate the controls without having to slide forward in your seat.

Set The Steering Wheel At The Appropriate Depth

  • When seated back in your seat, your hands should be able to rest comfortably on top of the steering wheel. After adjusting your hands to the appropriate positions on the wheel, you should have a tiny bend in your arms.
  • If you look at the column that connects the wheel to the vehicle, you'll see a lever you can pull to make the necessary adjustment to the desired depth. When the lever is lowered, the controls become accessible.
  • Simply adjust the depth by pushing or pulling without taking your hands off the wheel. Do not hesitate to push the wheel away from you if it is too close. Pull it closer if it's too far away.
  • If you're not sure if the depth is right, pull the lever back and take a seat before continuing, or just leave it as is and tweak the height later.

Raise Or Lower The Steering Wheel As Necessary

  • The height of the steering wheel should be adjusted to fit your height and your posture. It's not safe to drive with your shoulders and arms tense because the wheel is too high or too low.
  • After reinstalling the lever, a second tug will allow you to fine-tune the steering wheel's height. You should aim it at your chest (about 10 inches away), not your head. Doing so will guarantee that the airbag will shield you from harm in the event of an accident.
  • Keep in mind that you need to be able to see the warning lights and instrument gauges on the panel in front of you while you make adjustments to the height. You'll have to raise or lower the wheel if it's getting in the way.
  • When finished, raise the lever until it is flush with the column. Try to wiggle the wheel up and down to see if it can move freely in its socket.
